Food Truck and Rock Carnival: Godsmack, Stone Temple Pilots, Anthrax + More

Pulled pork sandwiches, Empanadas, craft beer and carnival rides. It doesn’t get much better than that unless you mix in some rock bands. The last day of the Food Truck and Rock Carnival housed some roaring rock acts.

The Massachusetts lads of Godsmack headlined Main Stage 1 and had some fun onstage as they cranked out new tracks “Generation Day” and their title track “1000hp.” The energy only kicked into high gear from there as they unleashed “Keep Away” which included a snippet of Pantera’s “Walk,” and “Touche” featuring New Jersey’s own John Kosco. Their set ended with covers of Alice Cooper’s “School’s Out” and Deep Purple’s “Highway Star” as well as the Godsmack anthem “I Stand Alone.”

Psychedelic rockers Clutch brought the house down early on and Skillet had fans bouncing and singing, as well. New Zealand band Like a Storm kicked things off over on the Main Stage 1 with their didgeridoo.

Over on Main Stage 2, Stone Temple Pilots featuring Chester Bennington played notable tracks “Sex Type Thing,” “Vasoline,” “Plush” and “Interstate Love Song,” just to name a few. Thrash masters Anthrax obliterated the stage beforehand. Funky groove rockers Crobot and Dead Fish Handshake entertained fans early on.

‘80s rockers Slaughter headlined the Birch Hill Stage. Heavy metal goddess Lita Ford, who is easily a main stage act, played the same stage beforehand. TT Quick, L.A. Guns and Prophet all graced Birch Hill early on.

The Food Truck and Rock Carnival combines a wholesome family experience on the carnival side while providing much bigger variety of food choices usually available at festivals along with multiple stages of killer music. This was the inaugural weekend for the festival and we hope that there are many more to come, fans can’t wait to see what the Food Truck and Rock Carnival cooks up next year!
